COVID-19 Relief Activities at SSP

Handstitched Masks – In order to help the community Shirdi Sai Parivaar’s volunteers started providing hand stitched reusable masks to Kaiser Permanente and Milpitas Police Department. So far, we have donated 800 masks and we will continue to work with communities and health care providers across Santa Clara & Alameda counties and committed to provide 2000 more masks in weeks to come. As of now total cost of our raw material stands at 2000$ USD and due to disrupted supply chains and increased demand for the material to make masks, the raw material rates continue to escalate.

Monetary Donations for PPE – Shirdi Sai Parivaar also made a donation of USD 3500 to Valley Health Foundation Hospitals, who has been spear heading the COVID-19 treatment in bay area, to procure PPE. As of now, US government has restrictions on only essential businesses can procure PPE items and hence we have chosen to make a monitory donation.

Meal Services at Homeless Shelters – Shirdi Sai Parivaar has been providing Breakfast / Lunch and Dinner services amounting to 1000 meals a week at various Bay area shelters in Redwood city, San Jose, Fremont, Sunnyvale and Mountain View operated by Home First, Adobe and Lifemoves organizations. Due to COVID-19 restrictions our volunteers are unable to serve and we have made an interim donation of USD 3500 in addition to providing two tons of Vegetables and other cooking supplies. We will continue to help these shelters in the weeks to come.

Food Drive – Shirdi Sai Parivaar is working on providing list of food items like cereals, bars, etc to San Francisco Marine Food Bank as per their needs.

Other Activities in Progress – Shirdi Sai Parivaar is actively working with local Food banks including Milpitas Food Pantry, Meals on Wheels America for providing them with both material and monetary help in meeting the increasing needs of the community around us impacted by the COVID situation. We will also be contacting local businesses, farmers, restaurants to see how we can help or partner the relief / response activities
