Description : Vedic Chanting

The focus of this class is on learning tonally accurate chanting of some common vedic texts. The vedas are considered the oldest known expressions of spiritual knowledge. These scriptures are called ‘apaurusheya’ in Sanskrit which literally means “not by human”. The emphasis will be on pronunciation and intonation.

UNESCO proclaimed this ancient tradition of Vedic chanting a Masterpiece of the Oral and Intangible Heritage of Humanity on November 7, 2003.

Children may be enrolled in this class but need to be accompanied by a parent.

Text: “Mantra Pushpam” in Sanskrit published by Ramakrishna mutt will be followed so familiarity with Devanagari script would be very helpful.
