Description: In this class, students will get exposed to and master the basic essay forms. They will be learning many different types of writing formats, including summary paragraph, author’s purpose paragraph, theme paragraph, theme essay, argumentative essay, informative article, personal narrative, expository essay, and a fictional narrative. There will be a final exam at the end of the course. Each writing piece will be graded and corrected by me, and for every top scorer there will be a prize. Each student will need one 3-subject notebook (notes, outlines, first drafts), a pencil, an eraser, a blue pen, and a yellow highlighter. In this class I will be using Google a lot. The final drafts of their essays and paragraphs will be on Google Docs and shared with me via Drive.

As part of the class, we will cover analysis, annotations, close reading, constructed responses, quotation explications, and poetry explications.
