Description : Introduction of Bharatanatyam :
This particular form of Indian classical dance is originated from the state of Tamil Nadu, India. It has its inspirations from the sculptures of the ancient temple of Chidambaram, India. Pandhanallur Style Bharatnatyam will be taught in this class. Students will learn mudras (hand positions and their meaning), adavus (steps) with sollu kattu (rhythmic syllable), Bharatanatyam dance theory and history.
LIST OF ADAVUS that includes in Syllabus :
Thatta Adavu , Natta Adavu , Visharu Adavu, Thatti Medu Adavu, Teermanam, Murka Adavu , Kuditta Metta Adavu, Srikal Adavu
After Adavu learning, Students will be introduced to some Korvais ( combination of all different Adavus together )
Beginner Level :
Introduction of Bharatanatyam, History of Bharatanatyam, Elements in Bharatanatyam, Mudras in Bharatantayam & Introduction of Adavus.
Students are introduced to simple combinations of the adavus in items and are set to music. Movement and control of the smaller muscle groups like shoulder, neck, and eyes are taught.
Students are requested to wear Kurtis and Leggings with Duppata
Hair should be tied up with a maroon color / red color Bindi on the forehead. Instructions:
Students are requested to bring a separate notebook & pen for writing down the notes that will be given during the class.
